SERGEANT GANDER - Luxury Leather Dog Collars with Gemstones
How do I know what size collar to order?
All of our collars made to fit a within a small range, so there isn't an abundance of extra leather flapping about like some collars. There is a 2" range on our small, medium and larger collars for example 14 - 16", and only 1 1/2" on the teeny collars 7 - 8 1/2" and will fit your dog anywhere within that range.
What if I have a dog that gets clipped?
If you have a furry dog that gets clipped, be sure to get a collar that will accommodate your dog without hair, on the smaller range and with hair on the larger range. For example if my dog has just been clipped and measures 14 1/12" then purchase a 14 - 16" collar. This will accommodate the hair growth. If my dog is due for a clip and measures 18", then purchase our 16 - 18" collar. There is enough there to fit and your collar will also be able to reduce to 17 or 16" after your dog has been clipped. If you select the wrong size, don't worry, we will work with you to get you the right size.
Here are a few different methods for measuring your dog's neck:
How do I measure my dog's neck?
Simply measure your dog’s neck for the proper collar size with a fabric measuring tape. If you don't have a fabric measuring tape wrap a string around your dog's neck. Mark the string then lay it our on a ruler or tape measure.
There should only be enough room between the pet’s neck and the collar to slip one finger between them comfortably. This ensures that the collar isn't too tight. Measure closer to the bottom of your dog's neck as gravity will take effect and make the collar sit lower on the neck.
Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape....
Or use your dog's existing collar:
Buckle Collar: Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the buckle to the current sizing hole or adjustment being used, as shown below.
Pressure clip nylon collar:
Measure from the far end of the female part of the closure to the bottom teeth of the male end, closest to the nylon as shown below.
What if my dog seems to be in between sizes and i'm not sure?
If your dog is full grown and their measurement is in between or overlapping in the size range listed, pick the smaller of the two sizes. ( For example, if my dog measures exactly 16", order the 14 - 16" collar). That way, you won't have extra leather hanging off of the end of the collar.
What if my dog is still growing?
If your dog is still growing, go with the larger option. Order your collar when your dog is almost fully grown or use our sizing guide below to have a good idea of how big your dog will be.
What if I buy the wrong size?
Don't worry, mistakes happen, we will work with you to get you the right size. Be comforted in knowing, that in the hundreds and hundreds of collars ordered, we have had only 4 that we have had to exchange for a different size. We will send a return ticket and send you out the next size up or down. Whatever you need.
What if I'm buying a gift and I don't have the dog close by?
Just use our chart below. If you choose the wrong size, we'll help you or the recipient get the right size, no problem! Mistakes happen!
LUXURY GENUINE TOP GRAIN LEATHER DOG COLLARS WITH GENUINE SEMI-PRECIOUS GEMSTONES AND HEALING CRYSTALS.
Gander was a Newfoundland dog posthumously awarded the Dickin Medal, the "animals' Victoria Cross", in 2000 for his deeds in World War II, the first such award in over 50 years.
Gander, initially a family pet named Pal, was given to The Royal Rifles of Canada by his original owner. The soldiers quickly renamed him Gander and "promoted" him to Sergeant. When the unit was shipped out to Hong Kong in the fall of 1941, Gander went along.
The Battle of Hong Kong began on December 8, 1941, the day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. Gander helped fight the Japanese invaders on three occasions. The last time, Gander picked up a thrown Japanese live hand grenade and rushed with it towards the enemy, dying in the ensuing explosion, but saving the lives of several wounded Canadian soldiers.
Gander was truly a great dog and we have created this collar collection to celebrate his life and bravery and all of the animals that have risked their lives for us through history.
